Join us on the Isle of Man in 2026 as we celebrate the sesquicentenary (150th anniversary) of the opening of the Douglas Bay Horse Tramway, the oldest horse-drawn passenger tramway to remain in service anywhere in the World.

Experience, first hand, the real-life workings of the earliest form of urban mass-public transit systems: the horse-drawn street tramway.

150th Anniversary Tickets:

If you're journeying on the horse tramway in 2026, ask your conductor for a 150th Anniversary Ticket as a souvenir.

The Edmondson-style card tickets reflect the original 1d fare stage when the tramway opened in August 1876: Burnt Mill Hill (now called Summer Hill, where the tramway stables are located) to Promenade (now the Esplanade and Harris Promenade).

The section of tramway to Peveril Square (opposite today's Sea Terminal) opened in January 1877.
